Consumers can apply for two new fee-free RBS and NatWest mortgages from today (October 5th).

The two and five-year fixed-rate deals are available at up to 50 and 60 per cent loan to value respectively, but the organisations stressed they do offer other arrangements for people with just a ten per cent deposit.

Interest on the two-year product is 2.75 per cent, with the offer open to new customers who are remortgaging and apply via the telephone or in a branch.

Applicants are advised there is potential to receive £250 cashback on this deal.

Meanwhile, the five-year arrangement - which has an interest rate of 4.39 per cent - must be requested by telephone and is open to both new and existing customers of RBS and NatWest mortgages.

Last month, the latter firm launched an E-savings account that offers customers the chance to receive a return of 2.85 per cent interest over a year.
