First-time buyers could find they are given a little financial help by signing up to a new Yorkshire Building Society fixed-rate mortgage deals, according to the company.

Product manager for mortgages at the firm Tom Girling made these remarks after the organisation unveiled its new range of fixed-rate mortgages with no legal or product fees.

He highlighted a £500 cashback feature in such products, which could be used to buy a flat-screen television with which to watch the upcoming Fifa World Cup.

Mr Girling explained: "With so many other things to buy to furnish that first home, we know that first time buyers need a little help when it comes to fees."

The two, three and five-year fixed-rate home loans are available at up to 85 per cent loan to value and are set at 5.19, 5.49 and 5.79 per cent interest respectively.

This month, Yorkshire Building Society suggested consumers could benefit financially by utilising its Three Minute Mortgage Check, which shows whether people could be paying less each month for their property.
