The potential impact of several updates to the Barclays mortgage system for brokers has been lauded by a source from the firm.

David Finlay, intermediary business director at the organisation, made his comments regarding the IntroTrack service, which will now send emails to brokers when a major change to an application has gone through.

He suggested this could save intermediaries a significant amount of time and leave them on the "front foot" when it comes to satisfying their clients' requests for real-time information.

"Our proactive stance in ensuring they are automatically registered to receive these email updates means that no broker will miss out through not doing it themselves," said Mr Finlay.

There are six stages at which intermediaries will receive a message, including the moment the application is received and when the credit score has been completed.

Last month, Barclays mortgages unveiled its Great Escape remortgaging package, which includes £300 cashback to help cover any exit fee on a consumer's current home finance deal.
