The number of consumers enquiring about remortgaging in the UK increased in June, new figures show.

According to Unbiased.co.uk, the proportion of people seeking advice on renewing their home loan rose to a third of all consumer requests over the period.

In addition, it was discovered that more of those looking to remortgage were seeking whole-of-market advice.

"These latest figures suggest a stirring amongst those thinking about remortgaging, after the previous two-month drop in remortgage enquiries," stated Unbiased.co.uk chief executive David Elms.

He added that it is only whole-of-market mortgage advisors who can provide consumers with information on products from across the range of mortgage providers.

The expert also said that with mixed news of the state of the country's property market and mortgage deals changing rapidly, it is not surprising that people are seeking advice when selecting products.

Recently, the Centre for Economics and Business Research predicted that house prices will rise by two per cent between the fourth quarter of 2009 and the same period in 2010.
