Increasing numbers of homeowners are looking to sell up their city property and move to the coast.

Despite the slow property market, the amount of people who are still looking to change their lifestyle by heading to the coast is "reasonable", according to Peter Halliday, managing director at Waterside Properties.

"Properties by the coast do generally attract higher prices because they are by the coast and in a nice place to live, but they are subject to the vagaries of supply and demand," Mr Halliday explained.

However, the property expert did note that many of the people who were looking to sell their family home and move to a coastal town are finding it hard find a buyer.

The comments follow the recent Halifax Seaside Town Quality of Life report found that Bridlington, Withernsea and Hornsea all offer a good standard of living and the some of the best value for money properties among coastal towns in the UK.
